If the “Four Great Inventions” in the first volume gave a relatively independent and detailed introduction to a technological invention, the second volume introduces the achievements of ancient China in a technical field in a comprehensive and systematic manner. These include farming, textile, porcelain and construction techniques.Porcelain, one of the great inventions of ancient China, is a symbol of Chinese civilization. Chinese porcelain making technology was gradually developed on the basis of making pottery in prehistorical times. This book outlines the evolution of pottery into porcelain, focusing on kaolin mining, clay preparation, molding, drying, glazing and firing. It systematically introduces the highly accomplished craftsmanship of ancient China and fully demonstrates the characteristics and style of porcelain in various periods.
